Early Life and Education
Ncuti Gatwa was born on October 15, 1992, in Rwanda. His family fled to Scotland when he was two years old, seeking refuge from the Rwandan genocide. Gatwa grew up in Edinburgh and attended the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where he studied acting.
Acting Career
Gatwa's breakthrough role came in 2014 when he was cast as Eric Effiong in the Netflix comedy-drama series "Sex Education." In 2021, it was announced that Gatwa would succeed Jodie Whittaker as the fifteenth Doctor in the long-running British science fiction series "Doctor Who."
