Inside Eurovision 2020: The Songs That Never Were

Cancelled Semi-final 2

The 2020 Eurovision Song Contest was set to be held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, but was unfortunately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This resulted in the cancellation of Semi-final 2, which was scheduled to take place on May 12, 2020.

A total of 71 songs from 147 songwriters were due to compete in Semi-final 2, representing countries from across Europe and beyond. The songs covered a wide range of genres, from pop and rock to folk and electronic music.

Who Would Have Won?

It's impossible to say for sure who would have won Eurovision 2020, but there were certainly some strong contenders in Semi-final 2. Some of the favorites included:

  • Norway - "Attention" by Ulrikke
  • Bulgaria - "Tears Getting Sober" by Victoria
  • Switzerland - "Répondez-moi" by Gjon's Tears
  • Austria - "Alive" by Vincent Bueno
  • Czech Republic - "Kemama" by Benny Cristo

These songs were all well-written and performed, and they had a lot of support from fans around the world.

What Happens Now?

The cancellation of Eurovision 2020 was a huge disappointment for fans and artists alike. However, the organizers of the contest have said that they are committed to bringing Eurovision back in 2021. It is unclear at this time whether any of the songs from Semi-final 2 will be eligible to compete in next year's contest.

For now, we can only hope that the COVID-19 pandemic will be behind us soon and that we can all come together to celebrate Eurovision 2021.
