The 1994 San Marino Grand Prix was the third race of the 1994 Formula One season. It was held on May 1, 1994, at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, Italy.

Fatal Accidents

The race is best known for the tragic deaths of Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger during the weekend. Senna, a three-time world champion, crashed his Williams FW16 car on lap 7 of the race, while Ratzenberger had died during qualifying the day before.

Aftermath

The deaths of Senna and Ratzenberger led to a major overhaul of safety regulations in Formula One. The race was also a turning point in the career of Michael Schumacher, who won the event and went on to become a seven-time world champion.
