Early Life and Career

Caleb Paul Ferguson was born on July 2, 1996, in Danville, Virginia. He attended Riverside High School, where he excelled in both baseball and football. After graduating high school, Ferguson attended the University of South Carolina, where he continued to develop his pitching skills. He was drafted in the 11th round of the 2017 MLB draft by the Houston Astros.

Major League Baseball Career

Ferguson made his MLB debut with the Astros in 2018. In his rookie season, he pitched in 17 games, starting two. He finished the season with a 4.00 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 29.2 innings pitched. In 2019, Ferguson became a key member of the Astros' bullpen, appearing in 61 games and posting a 3.71 ERA with 75 strikeouts in 58.1 innings pitched. He helped the Astros win the 2019 World Series, pitching in five games and allowing just one run in 5.1 innings. In 2020, Ferguson continued to be a valuable member of the Astros' bullpen, appearing in 20 games and posting a 1.42 ERA with 23 strikeouts in 18.2 innings pitched. He is expected to play a significant role for the Astros in 2021.
